I’m sure there are those who will argue whether the Super Bowl is the biggest day of the year for the NFL or Madison Avenue but you can’t argue that this year marks a turning point in how big brands are using Facebook fan pages as part of their overall marketingĀ  campaigns.

Both Coke and Budweiser are enticing people to see their commercials before the Super Bowl. In fact, Budweiser is asking fans to vote for which commercial you most want to see during the big game.

Bud has 225,742 buds, oops I mean fans, (www.facebook.com/Budweiser) at this time compared to Coke’s 4,600,276 fans (www.facebook.com/livepositively). We’ll be watching to see how much interactivity both brands get.

These are yet more examples of how you can benefit from big business marketing strategies on a small business marketing budget. No, you might not be able to afford a 30 or 60-spot on the Super Bowl yet, but I’ll bet you have some sort of inside scoop you can share with people or could ask for people’s opinion on something when people visit your fan page.

Which fan page strategy do you like better Coke or Bud?

I always love sharing how innovative companies
are pushing the envelope on Facebook.

Check out how Heineken is inviting you to celebrate
the New Year (in Malaysia, that is).

I’ll drink to that.

Has anyone ever done a poll about polls?

Hawaii Magazine uses its’ print and online
magazine to drive readers to their Facebook
fan page
to answer questions such as:

“What’s your favorite Hawaii beach?” or

“What’s your favorite filmed-in-Hawaii movie?”

That’s a great strategy to integrate print, online
and Facebook fan page media.

Every brand should seek to drive their clients/
customers to their FB fan page to experience the
phenomenon of fan page viralocity.

When someone comments on your Facebook
fan page not only does it socially validate you
on your page but that message also spreads
to the contributor’s wall and friends as well.

Feedback, comments, like this all continue
the conversation amongst each persons
personal list of friends. That’s viralocity.

Using polls is a great way to generate
fan page viralocity for your fan page.

Generate yours today…

What’s your favorite FB fan pageĀ  poll?

The joke used to be:
Q: What’s black and white and read all over?
A: The newspaper

Well, no more my viralocity fans…

Joke 2.0 is:
A. Black-Friday.net’s Facebook fan page

More than 2,400 fans can find ‘all of the
black Friday ads and sales information’
for what is hoped/hyped to be retailers
busiest day of the year.

Shop.org indicates that 47.1 percent of retailers
say they plan to increase their social media usage
during this holiday season.

Many top retailers are revealing their Black Friday
deals ONLY on their Facebook fan pages.

Retailers are vying for the 300 million+ eyeballs
(I guess you have to multiply that by two eyeballs)
and attempting to create easy click through shopping
experiences along with free shipping with min. purchases
during the holiday season.

Tis the season to be adapting the the Facebook revolution.

How is your business using Facebook fan pages
to increase business this holiday season?

What an incredible opportunity to get up close
and personal with the President of the United States.

President Obama is sharing almost daily insights
of what he’s going through as President.

Whether you agree with him or not, you cannot argue
that there has never been such incredible access
to the real-time perspective of the POTUS.

Today’s comment on the health care reform bill
received 27,352 thumbs up and comments.

Your Facebook fan page is the new way to receive
instant feedback from your fans, supporters and customers.

That’s one of the most powerful and overlooked aspects
of your Facebook fan page.

You might think the value of your fan page is in being
able to tell people about what your up to or what
you’re selling.

The real power of Facebook fan pages for businesses today
is the power to listen…

The power to be able to ask your marketplace about the
things that interest them most and for them to be able to respond
in real time.

Now that’s power…

And you don’t have to be President to have it.

Politics aside…

Sarah Palin just broke the 1 million fan
mark thanks to a massive PR push this week
for her new book Going Rogue.

She’s surpassed Oprah 980,159.

While I don’t recommend becoming
a vice presidential candidate as your
strategy for building your fan page fan
base.

I do recommend that you follow Palin’s
lead of using your fan page to connect
with your fan base.

Palin (or someone on her team?) is giving
fans the inside scoop, almost daily, sharing
details of her book tour, segments of her
interviews and comments on how she’s
being treated by the media.

And obviously lots of people appreciate that.
Tens of thousands of fans are interacting with her
by leaving feedback on her page.

Sarah Palin is using her Facebook fan page
exactly as it was intended. To create a place
for her fans to connect with her and to each other.

Perhaps it’s on her fan page where we’ll all learn
what she’s up to next?

Philadelphia Eagles WR Desean Jackson is sure going to give it a try.

In honor of Jackson’s father who suffered pancreatic cancer,
Jackson is using his Facebook fan page to auction off his
gloves from last Sunday’s game and donating proceeds
to Pancreatic Cancer Research.

With over 3K fans it appears Jackson is doing
a great job connecting with his fans and donating
to a cause he believes in.

Today Jackson earns the FPV MVP for using
the Get More Fans with SMS feature.

You can join the Text Club by texting DSTAR10 to 25827.

How can you be using your Facebook fan page
to support the causes most important to you?
